Engine House No. 11
The Ohio State University Airport and the Columbus Division of Fire have maintained a mutual relationship for the last 33 years. A dedicated vehicle known as Air Crash 1 provides for the highest degree of safety for pilots and passengers flying in and out of KOSU, a service offered in many larger airports. This vehicle allows for immediate response to an on field incident, using 4-wheel drive; the truck may go anywhere and provide extinguishments and rescue in any type of airfield incident.

Engine House No.11 also houses an Engine Company, Rescue Company, Medic/Transport Vehicle, EMS Supervisor, and Battalion Chief. We currently maintain 11-12 firefighters and officers at the Engine House each 24-hour shift. This staffing allows for the fire and EMS responses off property, protecting the surrounding community from fire and providing emergency medical treatment and transport as well as a rescue company offering technical action for numerous auto accidents and rescue situations. Other services include building inspections, community relations programs, training programs, and hydrant inspections.

The Columbus Division of Fire and Ohio State University Airport are committed to Aviation safety. We would like to invite and encourage all pilots and passengers to stop and visit the Engine House.
